Q&A with Matt

How has having a mentor had a positive impact on your career?

Having a mentor who was also a  CFP® professional allowed me to see the difference between an advisor who has CFP® certification and an advisor who does not. My mentor was a true sounding board for all of my concerns going through the process of obtaining my CFP® certification, working with clients to ensure we provided maximum value, and building a great business.

What do you love most about your career as a CFP® pro?

I love the opportunity to connect with people to learn about their goals personally, professionally, and financially. There is a cause and effect relationship to every decision our clients make, so providing them with the confidence that they are doing things right – and the peace of mind that they are going to be okay – is an amazing feeling.

Why did you choose to pursue CFP® certification?

I chose to pursue the CFP® certification because I believe it is the highest competency and ethical standard in the profession and a mark of a true financial planner. It represents my dedication to my craft in the same way my physician and attorney clients have their M.D. and J.D, respectively.
